Power Generation from the Wind Energy

Question: Discuss about the Report for Power Generation from the Wind Energy. Answer: Background Nature of the Overall Engineering Project The project aims at power generation from the wind energy due to the wind caused by the fast moving vehicles. In this project we are using train power to produce electricity by using the wind turbine. The main concept of this project is to implement a wind turbine and placed it between the railway sleepers. Therefore, when train passes over these turbine, the wind derives the turbine and produce the electricity. In this project I designed a small wind turbine which is placed into the railway tie. The most of the wind turbine parts were underground. When a train pass over this turbine then a whooshing wind help the turbine to spin and help to produce the electricity. I used a capacitor to store the raw energy which was generated from the wind turbine. Moreover, I used a charging circuit which was connected with the capacitor and the stored energy was extracted by an output circuit. Objectives of the Project The main objective is to build a power generation system such that it can contribute to the present power generation system as the need of energy is growing day by day. The generated power is ecofriendly as well as inexhaustible means the power can be generated as long as the railways are in function. This can be achieved by utilizing the energy resources along the railway tracks i.e., by utilizing the mechanical energy supplied by both wind gusts from train as well as mechanical energy supplied by the train when it is in motion. The proposed technique relates generally to generating electricity and, more particularly, to a method and a system for generating electricity along a railroad track. Many known railroad systems employ a variety of wayside equipment alongside the railroad tracks. Within a network, railroad tracks often span rural and unpopulated areas, and as such, providing power to wayside equipment in remote locations may be a challenging and costly task. At least some kn own railroad systems run power lines into remote areas to power wayside equipment. However, depending on the location, such power systems may be expensive to install and to maintain. The Nature of My Particular Work Area This project is about produce the electricity from a fast moving vehicles by using the wind turbine. For this particular project I was appointed as a team leader. As I complete my graduation in the field of electrical engineering, I used this electrical engineering knowledge and skill to complete this project in time. Moreover, I help my team members to find the problems and its solutions. In this particular project I designed a wind turbine named T-Box which was placed into the railway tracks. In addition, I used a capacitor which is connected with this T-Box to store the raw energy. Chart of the Organizational Structure Statement of duties This project is about the produce the electricity from a fast moving vehicles by using the wind turbine. I was allocated as a team leader for this particular project. As a team leader I have many responsibilities to complete this project. My responsibilities for this projects are: I am responsible for collecting all the relevant information about this project. I am responsible for provide all the relevant information to my team members. I am responsible for managing my team members to complete this project in time. I have a responsibility to identify all the problems and help my team members to solve it. I am responsible for implementation of the wind turbine. I am responsible for designing of charging circuit and using a capacitor to store the raw energy. Personal Engineering Activity Application of engineering knowledge and skills As the rear side is more curved than the front side on a wind turbine blade, this means that the air flowing over the rear side has to travel a longer distance from point A to B than the air flowing over the front side. Therefore this air flow over the rear side must have a higher velocity if these two different portions of air shall be reunited at point B. Greater velocity produces a pressure drop on the rear side of the blade, and it is this pressure drop that produces the lift. The highest speed is obtained at the rounded front edge of the blade. The blade is almost sucked forward by the pressure drop resulting from this greater front edge speed. There is also a contribution resulting from a small over-pressure on the front side of the blade. Compared to an idling blade the aerodynamic forces on the blade under operational conditions are very large. Most wind turbine owners have surely noticed these forces during a start-up in good wind conditions. Figure1: Rotation of the rotor The desired direction may be transverse or parallel to the direction of plane of rotation of blades depending upon the type of wind turbine used or the direction of wind, or it the design of the wind turbines. The turbines are connected to electricity generator to generate electricity. The generated electricity may be used directly or stored in batteries which can be used at the time of need. There are two primary physical principles by which energy can be extracted from the wind. These are through the creation of either lift or drag force (or through a combination of the two). Figure2: Open Position Delegation and Accomplishment As a team leader I have many responsibilities. I used my electrical engineering knowledge and skill to accomplish this project successfully. In this project, I have sub-divided the tasked into the team members and developed the comparison study of the existing schedule for preventive maintenance with the newly develop schedule. I have played an important role communicating between the team members and collecting daily progress report of the project. Technical Difficulties and their Solution Technical Difficulties One of the major problem in this project was identification of the proper equipment. Without proper equipment I was unable to complete this project in time. Solution I used my knowledge and skill of electrical engineering to identify the proper components of this project. Moreover, I review some previous researcher work and used internet to identify the proper equipment. Original and creative design work In this project I designed a small wind turbine which is placed into the railway tie. Moreover, I help my team members to find the problems and its solutions. In this particular project I designed a wind turbine named T-Box which was placed into the railway tracks. In addition, I used a capacitor which is connected with this T-Box to store the raw energy. Cooperation with the team members In this project, joint endeavors and cooperation were essential investigating the picking focus to complete every part of the obligations sensibly. In the endeavor, there were varying assignments that were apportioned to every accomplice with the target that everyone got their bit of responsibilities as showed by their specializations. We completed our responsibilities in time and helped each other to complete all parts of the attempt acceptably.
